Ben Hansen
Suddenly, Ben fell through the ceiling into Humphrey's lap.
"Oh, Mr. Humphrey," he wailed.
"What?" Humphrey responded.
"Nothing, just a bit of cosmic interference," was Ben's answer.
"Why are you here?"
"He's with me," Ben replied, pointing at Hugh.
"Not in that way. Come on," Hugh said and frogmarched Ben out. This
took a while, as when they were in the proper position Hugh's feet
dangled helplessly off the floor so he had to force Ben out at an
angle.
"Why did you say that?" Hugh asked furiously once they were out.
"What?"
"Now he thinks that I'm the boyfriend of somebody who destroyed his
second floor. I'll never have his trust."
"That's not important right now. You won't believe this, but that
monkey guy," Ben pointed at the door conspiratorially, "May have
killed the monkey and had his way with the corpse."
"By which you mean he took the eye."
"Yeah."
"I really wish you wouldn't put it in those words, 'had his way with
the corpse' sounds so much more disturbing than it should. And I know,
anyway. He showed me his restraining order."
"Did he show you his OPAL?!"
"You're getting a little overexcited."
"Yes, and I'm jumping to conclusions."
"Uh, yeah. Anyway, he told me that something was going down."
"Did he say what?"
"No."
"Well, that's helpful then."
