The Case Of The Cases: Chapter XXII

"Gee," said Hugh, "I sure hope he hasn't shown the briefcase to his wife."
"I doubt that," said Ben. "He was probably trying to keep it a secret, hence her hiring us in the first place."
"You're probably right. So what's the plan anyway?"
"I dunno, break in and take the briefcase?"
Hugh shrugged non-committally.
As they passed under the elaborate Fresnoese door-frame, a strange man in a bathing costume stopped them and began a conspiratorial chat.
"Are you the intrepid detectives?" he asked, hiding his face beneath a thick forearm.
"Huh?" said the intrepid detectives.
"I want you to steal a briefcase for me."
"But we didn't even answer your question," they protested.
"Here are the details. I'll pay directly into your account."
The man scurried off into some alleyway.
"But we don't even have an account, do we?"
"Perhaps," replied Ben.
