Murder At Marple Manor: Chapter VIII

Ben Hansen

"Anyway, Jeeves here will show you to her rooms if you would like," Mrs. Marple prompted.
"Just one thing first," replied Hugh. "In Murder in Mesopotamia..."
"Shut up Hugh," Ben said at the same time Mrs Marple said "That wasn't me, that was Poirot."
"Follow me sirs," Jeeves suggested, and follow they did.
Half an hour later saw Ben dressed in a windcheather and cargos and Hugh dressed in a tuxedo.
"You DO realise that the party isn't for three hours, don't you?" Ben asked.
"Ummm... Yes. I just wanted to air this out," Hugh improvised.
"And you DO know that it's fancy dress?"
"Ummm... Yes. I'm going as James Bond." Hugh began to sweat.
"Interesting..."
"Yes."
"... Especially since the theme of the fancy dress is 1930's mystery novels, dated about 30 years before the Bonds."
"I hate you."
"Yes, but I'm in charge at the moment so I can do as I like."
"What?"
"Nothing. Let's go play some tennis before we have to change."
