The Bermuda Whalers: Chapter XXII

Ben Hansen

"Well, that was... excessive," Ben said as the island faded to nothing but a distant tendril of smoke.
"It was," Hugh replied. There was a pause that lasted for a long time while they thought of something to say or do.
"Where are we?" Grace asked after a while.
"Middle of the ocean," Hugh answered.
"Big ocean," said Ben, tanning himself.
"It is," Grace responded. Another pause.
"Do you think there are whales out here?" Grace asked after a while.
"You STILL want to go whaling?" Ben exploded.
"Yes," Grace said.
After a shorter pause than the other two, Hugh said "Do you have a harpoon or anything?"
"Yep." Grace grinned and plucked a harpoon seemingly out of the air.
"Good, catch us some food," Hugh replied.
