The Mailwoman: Chapter XIV

The pause so richly embellished at the end of the last paragraph
became a part of Ben and Hugh history as the first pause to span two
posts. And it continued while the two silently made their way to
Parksville after quietly consulting a map, as they knocked voicelessly
on a muffled door, and as they were inaudibly rushed inside by a
vaguely familiar-looking butler. Hugh opened his mouth at this point,
but with a harsh look from Ben, closed it again.
And finally, the pause was broken by a rich voice that emanated from
the high-backed chair in front of the quintessential fireplace.
"Ah! The mailboys. So good to see you. I trust the place wasn't too
hard to find?"
Hugh, shocked into speech by the narrator's clever use of his name,
replied "Not really."
"Excellent," the chair said, and span around to reveal...
