The Dead Monkey: Chapter V

Ben Hansen

"Eye know."
"Eye hate you."
"Eye think we should stop now."
"Eye agree."
Then there was silence for a time.
"Any ideas where it went?" Hugh asked.
"What?"
"His eye."
"A gruesome trophy taken by the killer?"
"Why would the death of a monkey require a trophy?"
"What?"
"Well, if you look at a monkey you'll notice that once it's stabbed
it's not that capable of doing anything. Even before it gets stabbed,
a monkey can't really do anything but dodge."
"So you're saying..."
"Yes..."
"...That the monkey must have been killed by somebody who was really
bad at stabbing things, otherwise he wouldn't have thought it worth
taking a trophy from?"
Hugh was about to say something, but then his eyes glazed.
"Yeah, sure," he said instead.
