Murder At Marple Manor: Chapter XXIV

Ben Hansen

Twenty minutes and a mildly disgruntled Jeeves later, Ben and Hugh had a list.
"Ok, we have thirty people on this list, and no idea who did it," Hugh announced ominously.
"There's us - I'll just cross us off straight away," Ben said. He reached for the list, but Hugh snatched it from his grasp before he could.
"Wait right there," Hugh said. "I know I didn’t do it, but how can I be sure YOU didn't?"
"Because I'm one of the good guys. I'm trying to solve the case."
"Ah-HA! Motive: Narrative continuation."
"You’re an idiot," Ben said, and then experienced a moment of deja-vu. "Look," he said, coming back to himself, "We were within each other's sight when it happened, so we both know the other didn't do it."
"Fair enough," Hugh said and crossed their names off the list. "Ok, first order of business: Mrs Marple."
"Why is she on her own guest list?" Ben asked.
"Be quiet. Let's just step through this gaping plot hole into her room."
